Description: While studying the use of databases inside Calc spreadsheets, I came across these instructions on the official documentation regarding inserting fields from a database for viewing individual records: "You can also drag the data source column headings (field names) onto your spreadsheet to create a form for viewing and editing individual records one at a time. Follow these steps: 1) Drag and drop the gray box at the top of the column (containing the field name you wish to use) to where you want the record to appear in the spreadsheet ..." https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/e/e9/CG7511-LinkingCalcData.pdf Page 32 The problem is... it doesn't work! On dragging the box, the mouse cursor changes to the usual "insert" icon, but on dropping on any cell on a spreadsheet, noting happens! Steps to Reproduce: 1.Ctrl+Shift+F4 to open the data sources panel (View > Data Sources) 2.Expand Bibliography (the default included database), tables and select the "biblio" table 3.From the panel's right side, drag any column header to any cell on the spreadsheet below. Actual Results: Nothing happens. Expected Results: As per the documentation, the corresponding field from the first record should appear. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.6.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f5defcebd022c5bc36bbb79be232cb6926d8f674 CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded
As a side-note to the report in comment 0 (as it does not advance the report itself in any direction, but it might be of relevance)... While there might be some misinformation problem in that pdf (version 7.5), I would like to post potential alternate sources of info: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/guide/webquery.html?DbPAR=CALC (and the links in that help page) and some others (less specific, and only for version 7.6): https://help.libreoffice.org/7.6/en-US/search?P=data+sources
